What is an Early College High Schools (ECHS)? An Early College High Schools are innovative high schools that allow students least likely to attend college an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and 60 college credit hours. Early College High Schools:- provide dual credit at no cost to students
- offer rigorous instruction and accelerated courses
- provide academic and social support services to help students succeed
- increase college readiness, and
- reduce barriers to college access.
Our High School campus has official ECHS TEA Designation!
Under the authority of Texas Education Code (TEC) §29.908(b) and Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §102.1091, the TEA developed a designation process for Early College High Schools. The designation process ensures that districts and colleges operating ECHS campuses maintain the integrity of the model, which was researched and designed to target and serve students who might not otherwise attend college.
Raul Yzaguirre School for Success 9-12 Charter School offers a college preparatory program, which includes Advanced Placement courses, courses in technology, art, business, choral and instrumental music, JROTC and physical education. We have STEM, Arts and Humanities, and Business and Industry course pathways.
Our well-rounded high school experience includes active participation in activities outside of the classroom. Our athletic programs, competition teams, visual and performing arts programs, and student clubs offer opportunities for students with a variety of interests. Students attending our ECHS campus potentially can graduate with an Associates Degree saving thousands of dollars and obtaining over 60 hours of college credit courses.
