School Safety
School Safety 2024-2025
It is the goal of the Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success (RYSS) district to provide a safe environment in which all students can achieve high levels of learning.
We are centered on application of emergency management and continuity of operations principles and best practices endorsed by the Texas School Safety Center and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Supportive Schools/Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS).

Standard Response Protocols
A uniform, planned, and practiced response to any incident is the foundation of a safe school. The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is action-based, flexible, and easy to learn. It rationally organizes tactics for response to weather events, fires, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety. All campuses are required to practice these protocols with staff and students.
The SRP premise is simple and has been adopted from the I Love You Guys Foundation. Five specific actions are communicated and performed during an incident. Each action is labeled with a “Term of Art” and is followed by a “Directive.” Execution of the action is performed by all active participants, including students, staff, teachers and first responders. This aligns everyone for a swift and coordinated response. A copy of the SRP is available in the SRP ♥ The "I Love U Guys" Foundation page online.
District Safety Committee
The District Safety Committee meets a minimum of three times a year and per the TEXAS EDUCATION CODE 37.109, its intended to engage a working group of stakeholders
to create and maintain a safe and secure school climate and culture for staff and students. The agenda for these meetings will be posted on this page.
