Affordable Housing Program
The Affordable Housing Program is dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals, families, and seniors who lack the economic resources to access affordable and safe housing of good quality. By offering the Affordable Housing Program, the Tejano Center for Community Concerns helps neighborhood residents fulfill their dream of owning a home. Our program is certified by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a Housing Counseling Agency. It is also a NeighborWorks America member, a National Council of La Raza (NCLR) affiliate and is certified as a Community Housing Development Organization by the City of Houston.
Tejano Center was deemed by NCLR to be among the best housing programs in the United States. The center operates one of the most successful housing counseling programs in Harris County, resulting in hundreds of people succeeding in becoming homeowners each year. Prospective homebuyers who are interested in finding out how to purchase their home and learning the qualifications for purchasing an affordable home under the Tejano Center’s Affordable Housing Program or need guidance in sustaining their home should call 713 673-1080.
We believe that affordable housing and supportive programs improve the economic status of residents, transform neighborhoods, and stabilize lives. We are dedicated to helping neighborhoods become vibrant and healthy communities. The Tejano Center’s contributions to Houston’s Greater East End have been strengthened by the agency’s role as builder and developer of affordable, single family homes for purchase by low- and moderate-income families, as well as a senior housing developer.
Since 2005, the Tejano Center’s Affordable Housing Program has helped more than 2,300 families become new homeowners. This program meets the unique affordable housing needs of households that do not have full access to traditional channels of funding. Our Affordable Housing Program delivers a full range of homebuyer counseling and education services aimed at increasing homeownership opportunities for low to moderate -income families. We also develop, finance, and operate affordable housing.
Throughout its 20-year history, the Affordable Housing Program has formed numerous successful affiliations in the private sector to promote its goals and objectives. The Tejano Center’s corporate, governmental, and nonprofit and foundation partners include:
