Angie Miranda, Ed.D.
Dr. Miranda has built her career around her passion for improving urban communities through excellence in educational opportunities for ALL students. She is a native of Puerto Rico where she began her teaching and administrative career. Upon moving to the United States, she began her tenure with the Houston Independent School District.
In the district, she served as a Bilingual teacher, Bilingual ESL Coordinator, Alternative certification program supervisor, elementary school principal, and school support officer. In her role as school support officer, she supported 13 campuses and their School Improvement Plan implementation and all other areas related to campus academics, professional development, and student support. After 24 years, Miranda became the Chief Academic Officer for Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success, a position she held for years before retiring, but returned as the interim Chief of Schools in 2022; a position she currently holds.
She has been honored with the Outstanding Academic Progress Award (2010, 2011), National Center for Educational Achievement Award (2009-2014), Title I Part A, Distinguished Progress Award (2009-2014), Principal of the Year Finals (2009, 1010), and Principal of the Year nominee (1020, 2011). She maintains memberships in the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, International Reading Association, Houston Association of School Administrators, National Association fo Bilingual Education, and Phi Delta Kappa. In her free time, she enjoys pursuing her interest as an avid gardener.
